Safe Administration of Topical Medications and Conditions of the Skin
This session is aimed at adult social care workers who administer creams, ointments and other topical medicines. The session looks at the skin anatomy and physiology and discusses common medicines that are administered by this route providing the rationale behind their administration. The course will cover relevant legislation and guidance followed by a discussion on some common skin conditions and treatments. Delegates will walk through appropriate technique and practice drug administration in simulation.
